Q: Is icon better than snap on?

I've seen posts in my FB mechanic group where some guys have claimed Icon is better than Snap On (which I seriously doubt) but I'm seeing reviews which say that the Icon tools have a lot of built in slop. Particularly the wrenches.

Q: Are icon wrenches any good?

Typically you find thicker walled sockets with cheap brands (an attempt to increase strength with lesser quality steel), but Icon kept the wall thickness within reason. The wrenches are actually really nice, and seem to be a total knock-off of Snap-On wrenches. I’ve got a Snap-On set and an Icon set.

Q: Is the icon better than the Pittsburgh Pro?

Considering the Pittsburgh Pro stuff is very solid, I don't see much that the Icon offers over it other than it looks better/has better packaging and marketing. It's already well known that the pittsburgh pro impact sockets are decent quality and that even the dirt cheap torque wrenches are accurate enough.

The sockets are durable and their dimensions are reasonable for professional use. The Icon ratchets function well. I don’t really like the soft grips, they feel cheap. Have two ratchets imo very good, have a impact collar bar thing. Really nice but its probably a rebrand etc. Imo ICON could step it up a bit more on other things to be like a in house gearwrench at harbor freight.
